Google has beaten the iPhone in the pursuit to become the best-selling mobile OS in the U.S. consumer smartphone market in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, BlackBerry devices still clutches the number one spot although both the Google Android and Apple’s iPhones are in close distant. A research firm, NDP Group discloses that BlackBerry accounts for 36 per cent of the units sold to U.S. consumers while the Android follows with 28 per cent of units sold. The iPhones are knocked down to third place with 21 per cent.
Apple enthusiasts blame the fact that both BlackBerry and Android operating systems are available on multiple phones while Apple’s operating system is only available on the iPhone.
Apple’s phone is still popular even with the Android upset. AT&T reports that it had activated about 900,000 iPhones in the first quarter for new customers.
